You’ll find lots of books in my office. All available to borrow. My favorite book is “Going on a Bear Hunt” by Michael Wayne Rosen, because the phrase “you can’t go over it, you can’t under it, you have to go through it” was never about finding a bear. The only way out is through. A tough pill to swallow, yes, good thing I provide the water.

The best way out is through.

What is EMDR? Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing was developed in 1987 by Dr. Francine Shapiro. She noticed a reduction of emotional charge with rapid, side to side eye movement. This modality has been studied extensively and continues to deliver sound results when used by trained professionals.

What is IFS? Internal Family Systems (or “parts work” is a bit more abstract in theory. In practice, we look at individual “parts” within your self and focus on having all parts work and move in harmony.

What is Somatic Experiencing? Somatic work uses the philosophy of the whole body being connected, that we can’t separate the body from the mind. My PT background lends itself to incorporating this work in my therapy practice. At its core, we will work to tap into physical sensations and how they may correlate to trauma, anxiety, fear, depression and grief.
